A great end to a great year for U7’s

U7's at Hawkfield end of season blitz. U7’s at Hawkfield end of season blitz.

The Kilcullen U7 team travelled to Hawkfield last Saturday 19-September to play in the South board U7 end of season blitz. The blitz brought down the curtain on a very eventful season for Kilcullen U7 who played 18 challenge matches against teams such as St. Laurences, Moorefield twice, Athgarvan twice, Ballykelly three times, Kildangan three times, Ballyteague, Athy, Castledermot, Rheban, Eadstown, Two Mile House and Round Towers. During the 40 training sessions throughout the season the management team  focused on kicking the ball from hand, hand-pass and pick-up which the boys have now mastered and displayed superbly at the weekend. Well done to Allan Cahill, Brendan Duffy and Terry Donnelly for coordinating the Kilcullen U7 team during the Hawkfield blitz and for their coaching / mentoring each Wednesday evening during the season. Practice makes perfect for U7’s

U7's blitzed all before them in Athy. U7’s blitzed all before them in Athy.

Kilcullen U7 team travelled to Athy on Saturday 11-July to play Athy, Castledermot and Rheban in Athy. Dark clouds gathered as we approached Athy but thankful held off during the 3 matches. The main focus for Kilcullen was putting into practice the hand-passing drills, the management team have worked hard on during Wednesday evening training sessions, the past few weeks. All players performed really well and Kilcullen U7 recorded 3 victories 1-3 to 0-1 over Castledermot ;  2-5 to 0-1 over Rheban and 3-4 to 0-2 win over Athy, so some very happy Kilcullen boys faces after 2 hours of football. Fun Blitz for U7’s in Kildangan

Kilcullen U7 - Kindangan Blitz Kilcullen U7 – Kindangan Blitz

Kilcullen U7  team made the trip to Kildangan on Saturday 13-June to participate in the Kildangan blitz. Kilcullen had 20 players so we fielded two equal teams.  Ballyteague were unable to field a team so Kilcullen played Kildangan and Balllykelly in 2 very entertaining matches, under the warm sunshine. Kilcullen played well in both matches and finished the blitz with a match between the 2 Kilcullen teams. Lessons learned from the blitz, we need to work on hand-passing, kicking when in space and holding positions, which we will work on in training.

The Kilcullen players were Brendan Brown ; James Cahill ; Declan Coleman ; Jack Cronin ; Turlough Donnelly ; Theo Donnelly ; Archie Galvin ; Sean Hoey ; Fionn Howard ; Myles MacNamara  ; Noah Mahon ; Sean Majer ;  Charlie McCaffrey ; Oscar Monks ; Oisin Monks ;  Darragh Taaffe ; Cillian Acton ; Jack Bradley ; Cillian O’ Reilly  & Luke Duffy

Thanks to all parents who travelled and supported the kids at the blitz….Well done to team mentors Terry Donnelly ; Allan Cahill & Brendan Duffy for training the Kilcullen U7.
