Ladies Junior A Championship – Naas 3-18 Kilcullen 2-8 Sat 1st September 2012
A depleted Kilcullen side lost to a very impressive Naas side in this championship encounter. Naas came firing out of the blocks with half forward Shannon Doheny particularly impressive, as the home side dominated the first half and took a 2-11 to 1-2 lead at the break, with Gemma Carey getting the Kilcullen goal. However, the Ragettes were much improved in the second half, and refused to give in, and some well taken points from Jayne Peacocke and Clare Kelly, and a brilliant solo goal from Ciara Pembroke, gave the scoreboard a much healthier look. Shannon Doheny was the star of the show for Naas racking up a personal tally of 2-8, while best for Kilcullen were Emily Vaughan, Nikki Dowling, Clare Kelly and Jayne Peacocke.

Ladies Senior Div 3 – Robert Emmets 4-8 Kilcullen 1-9 – Tue 26th June 2012
Kilcullen Ladies missed out on a place in the league semi-finals on a 4-8 to 1-9 scoreline that was very harsh on the Ragettes. Kilcullen dominated the opening half, but failed to convert all their posession into scores, while at the other end they conceded to sloppy goals, which gave Emmets a 2-1 to 0-5 half time lead. The Ragettes got a dream start to the second half, with an attempted point from Aoife Molyneaux dropping in over the keeper and into the net. While the goal may have been lucky, Kilcullen certainly merited the lead, and the hope was that they would kick on from there. However, in fairness to Emmets, they grew in confidence, and were very accurate with their shooting while Kilcullen were failing to take their chances at the other end. The Ragettes never lacked for effort and will be hopeful of improving on their league from for the championship when they will hopefully be able to get a full panel together.
Amanda Boland was exellent at the back for Kilcullen, Clare Kelly worked tirelessly in midfield, while in the forwards, Emma Doyle and Aoife Molyneaux both did well.
Kilcullen Line-Up: C.Pembroke; N.Dowling, K.Bell; A.Boland, D.Smyth, E.Vaughan; C.Kelly(c), K.Cogan(0-1); G.Carey, E.Doyle(0-4,2f), L.Gibson(0-1); M.Kelly, A.Molyneaux(1-3), C.McDonnell.
Ladies Senior Div 3 – Kilcullen 0-10 Na Fianna 3-11 – Tue 19th June 2012
An understrength Kilcullen Ladies gave everything but were beaten by a strong Na Fianna side on a 3-11 to 0-10 scoreline. Na Fianna opened with a scoring blitz, and were 2-3 to 0-0 up after 7 minutes, and never looked back from there. In fact, the rest of the game was very even, but the Ragettes were never able to bridge the gap created in the opening period. Both sides scored 5 points each in the remainder of the half to leave the visitors with a 2-8 to 0-5 half-time lead. Kilcullen refused to give in and closed the gap to 5 points at one stage, but just as they looked like they might get back into the game, Na Fianna found the net for a third time. This proved to be decisive, and while the Ragettes just had the bare 13 players, Na Fianna were able to freshen things up with a number of substitutes the see the game out, despite Kilcullen’s best efforts. Best for Kilcullen were both Clare Kellys, Laura Gibson and Zainab Afolabi.
Kilcullen Line-Up: A.Molyneaux; C.Kelly(Capt), K.Bell, A.Boland; E.Vaughan, Z.Afolabi; A.Smyth(0-1), C.Kelly(0-1); L.Gibson(0-1), K.Cogan(0-1), J.Peacocke(0-5f); G.Carey, C.McDonnell.
Ladies Senior Div 3 – Suncroft 3-16 Kilcullen 2-9 – Tue 22nd May 2012
Suncroft maintained their excellent season at the expense of a brave Kilcullen side tonight. Kilcullen were missing a number of players, and the game was played at 13-a-side. Suncroft are unbeaten in the league, and they certainly showed their confidence is up in this game, crafting a number of well-taken scores to take a 2-8 to 1-4 half-time lead. However, the Ragettes battled their way back into the game in the scond half, which was very even. However, the Croft were able to introduce a number of fresh players at a crucial stage in the game, while the visitors did not have this luxury. Kilcullen battled right to the end, and were unlucky not to have another few scores, and the final score of 3-16 to 2-9 was very harsh on them. All 13 players gave everything for Kilcullen, but Zainab Afolabi was excellent in defence, the hard-working Aoibheann Smyth and Sinéad Maher drove the Ragettes from around the middle, while Jayne Peacocke was in lethal form in attack, including a stunning second half goal that would grace any game.
Kilcullen Line-Up: A.Molyneaux; R.Hovendan-Keane, K.Bell, Z.Afolabi; C.Kelly(capt), E.Vaughan; A.Smyth(0-1), C.Kelly(0-1); S.Maher, D.Smyth(0-1), A.Moran; J.Peacocke(2-5,3f), K.Cogan(0-1).
Ladies Senior Div 3 – Kilcullen 0-4 Kilcock 1-15 – Tue 15th May 2012
A very strong Kilcock side put in an excellent second half performance to beat Kilcullen in this game. The first half was a very even affair, and the visitors took a narrow 0-5 to 0-3 lead into the break. However, Kilcock came out all guns blazing in the second half, to take a deserved victory. The Ragettes never lacked for effort, and kept trying up to the final whistle, and Amanda Boland, Sinéad Maher and Claire Kelly all did well.
Kilcullen Line-Up: A.Moylneaux; A.Boland, K.Bell, C.Mulrennan; S.Maher, D.Smyth(0-1), E.Vaughan; A.Smyth, C.Kelly; C.Pembroke, K.Cogan(0-1), A.O’Toole; C.McDonnell, J.Peacocke(0-2,1f), L.Gibson.

Ladies Senior Div 3 – Kilcullen 2-12 Robert Emmet’s 5-7 – Tue 8th May 2012
Goals were the difference in this contest as Robert Emmet’s scored three second half goals to come back from 7 points down at half-time to take the spoils. The Ragettes conceded an early two goals, but went on to dominate the majority of the first half to take a 2-8 to 2-1 half-time lead. Clare McDonnell got 2 poacher goals, while there were number of well-taken points, the pick of which came from Sinéad Maher. Kilcullen defended brilliantly during this period also, with a number of brilliant tackles and blocks. Both sides struggled to get going in the second period, but Emmet’s grew into the game as it progressed. They outscored the Ragettes by 3-5 to 0-4 in the second half. However, Kilcullen will be disappointed not to have taken anything from the game despite playing very well for most of the game. Their chances were also damaged by star forward Jayne Peacocke, who had contributed 6 points and was a constant danger, being sent to the sin-bin for the final 10 minutes. Best for Kilcullen were Clare Kelly and Nikki Dowling in defence, Aoibheann Smyth in midfield and Jayne Peacocke up front.
Kilcullen Line-Up: A.Molyneax; N.Dowling, K.Bell, C.Kelly(capt); S.Maher(0-1), D.Smyth, E.Vaughan; C.Kelly, A.Smyth; A.O’Toole, K.Cogan(0-3), C.Pembroke(0-1); L.Gibson(0-1f), J.Peacocke(0-6,1f), C.McDonnell(2-0).
Ladies Senior Div 3 – Clane 2-11 Kilcullen 7-12 – Tue 24th April 2012
Kilcullen Ladies bounced back from a couple of disappointing defeats in their opening 2 games, to put in a brilliant and clinical performance away to Clane. The game was played as 13-a-side which really suited the Kilcullen forwards who flourished in the open spaces of a Clane pitch that was in brilliant condition considering the recent bad weather. The first half was real end to end stuff, with Laura Gibson finding the net twice for the Ragettes, while at the other end Aoife Molyneaux pulled off a stunning save to deny Clane a goal of their own. This meant the Ragettes took a deserved 2-6 to 0-5 half-time lead. Clane came back strongly into the game in the first 10 minutes of the second half, and closed the gap to 4 points with Kilcullen leading by 2-10 to 1-9. However, after that the vistiors attack took over. Ciara Pembroke put the Ragettes 7 points clear with a brilliantly taken goal, and Kilcullen never looked back from there. Ciara went on to complete a hat-trick, while Laura Gibson scored another 2 goals. Clare Kelly, Kayleigh Cogan and Jayne Peacocke all got some excellent scores too as the Ragettes went on to win by an amazing 7-12 to 2-11.
It’s hard to pick anyone out as best players as all 13 girls worked so hard for each other and played well, but Clare Mulrennan was oustanding in defence, Aoibheann Smyth worked tirelessly in midfield, while Ciara Pembroke and Laura Gibson were in lethal form in attack.
Kilcullen Line-Up: A.Molyneaux; C.Mulrennan, K.Bell; C.Kelly(capt), S.Maher, E.Vaughan; C.Kelly(0-2), A.Smyth; C.Pembroke(3-1), D.Smyth, K.Cogan(0-3); J.Peacocke(0-4,2f), L.Gibson(4-2).
Ladies Senior Div 3 – Kilcullen 1-9 Suncroft 4-15 – Tue 17th April 2012
An excellent performance by a strong Suncroft side proved too much for Kilcullen in this Dvision 3 clash. The Ragettes started well, with Kilcullen taking an early 0-4 to 0-1 lead. However, Suncroft scored an equalizing goal and never really looked back from there, and two more first half goals saw the visitors take a 3-6 to 0-6 half-time lead.
Kilcullen tried their best to get back into the game, and the Suncroft keeper made a couple of good saves at a crucial time in the game to deny the Ragettes a chance of closing the gap. Suncroft then added a good few scores, including a brilliantly taken goal, and were deserved winners, although the scoreline was certainly very harsh on Kilcullen.
Best for Kilcullen were the two Clare Kellys, Daire Smyth and Jayne Peacocke.
Kilcullen Line-Up: A.Molyneaux; R.Hovendan-Keane, K.Bell, C.Mulrennan; C.Kelly, M.Kelly, E.Vaughan; A.Smyth, C.Kelly(1-1); S.Maher(0-1), D.Smyth(0-1), K.Cogan(0-1); A.O’Toole, J.Peacocke(0-4), L.Gibson(0-1).
