Having won their league (Division 5 South), Kilcullen faced the North winners Clogherinkoe to be outright county Division 5 Champions. On a wet night in Rathangan, the Rags didn’t manage to produce the excellent football they had in their previous games. However, they battled hard against a tough Clogherinkoe side and it took a goal in the dying minutes of extra time to separate the sides. The Rags missed a number of early chances in the game, and then Clogherinkoe had a period of dominance, but a clinical Ben Foran penalty following a foul on Graham Lavin meant the sides went in level at 1-3 to 0-6. The second half was a scrappy affair, and both sides will feel they had enough chances to win the game.
