Monasterevin were too strong for St.Brigid’s in this championship semi-final which was played in terrible conditions. It was cold and wet, and the pitch was waterlogged in places, so it was a testament to both sets of players that they produced a decent level of football. Monasterevin got off to a flyin start and led by 1-5 to 0-1. The visitors then rallied to get back into the game, but it was the home side who took a 2-8 to 1-4 half-time lead, with Sarah Doherty getting the Brigid’s goal. Brigid’s were on top early in the second half, but couldn’t get the scores that could have made a difference at a crucial stage of the game. However, Monasterevin were clinical and went on to win by 5-13 to 3-5. Brigid’s kept on trying right up to the final whistle and left everything on the pitch. They were disappointed to lose on the day, but they came up against a very good side, and can hold their heads up high. Lauren Hurley, Daire Smyth, Kayleigh Humphries and Sarah Doherty were best for Brigid’s.

St.Brigid’s lost out to a very strong Celbridge side in this game. Celbridge were a strong, physically bigger side, although the home side certainly didn’t match the performance they put in, in their first 2 games. Brigid’s got off to an excellent start with an early Daire Smyth goal. But the visitors soon cancelled it out with a run of points to take a commanding lead which they never surrendered for the rest of the game. To be fair to Brigid’s, they kept working right up to the final whistle, but it just didn’t click for them on the day. However, they have won two games from three and are into the semi-finals.
Daire Smyth was outstanding, working tirelessly to try get her side back into the game, while Kate Timmons, Alannah Burke and Kayleigh Humphries also did well.

St.Brigid’s recorded an excellent win over Eadestown in this championship match. The scoreline was probably a little harsh on a decent Eadestown side, but Brigid’s were clinical with their goal chances, while Niamh Doran made a number of great saves at the the other end. It was an even game for most of the first half, but goals from Nanci Murphy and an excellent left footed finish from Daire Smyth helped the home side to a 2-4 to 0-5 half-time lead. They racked up a further 4 goals in the second half, with Murphy completing a brilliant hat-trick, Nikki Dowling scoring directly from a free and Avril Glendon also finding the net.
It was an excellent team performance all round, with the attack in scintilating form, and the defence very solid. Nanci Murphy was the star of the show scoring 3-1, Niamh Doran was excellent in goals, while Laura McMahon, Daire Smyth and Nikki Dowling all also did well.

This was a brilliant championship match with some great scores and excellent skill by both sides. After a very even first half, it was the Croft who took a 2-7 to 2-5 lead into the break, with Brigids’ goals coming from Aiveen Treacy and a clinical Kayleigh Humphries penalty. The away side were confident heading into the second half, despite trailing, as they would have the breeze and the slope in their favour. However, it was Suncroft who were on top in the third quarter of the game, with the outstanding Ellen Dowling leading the charge. They held a 6 point lead, and looked set for victory, but the St.Brigid’s team never panicked and were excellent in the final quarter of the game, as they turned the game around to come back and win by three.
Kayleigh Humphries was the star player for St.Brigid’s scoring 2-3, while Lauren Hurley, Daire Smyth and Nanci Murphy also did well in a good team performance.
