Ladies Last Game:
The ladies play their last game of their championship group away to Carbury tonight (Wed) at 7.30pm. Although they cannot qualify, a win would round off a very respectable first season.

Senior Relegation Play-Off:
The Seniors play the first game of the Division 1 relegation play-off against Ballymore tomorrow (thurs) night. The game takes place at 7.30pm at St.Laurence's (Old Grange). It will not be clear who the other two teams in the play-off are untill Confey play Kilcock tonight in a back match.

Championship Details:
It has been confirmed that Kilcullen will play the second game of their Senior Championship Group against Round Towers at St.Conleth's (County Grounds in Newbridge) on Sunday August 13th. The game will take place as part of a double header with Carbury v Allenwood from one of the other groups.
There are 2 other games of interest to Kilcullen on the previous night (Sat 12th Aug). The other game in our group between Sarsfields and Athy takes place in Newbridge that night, while in the Intermediate Championship, the game between Suncroft and Monasterevin has been fixed for Kilcullen.

GAA Cúl Camp:
Award winners at the successful recent Cúl camp were as follows: Sinéad Maher, Emma Vaughen, Conor Phelan, Annie O'Toole, Cíarán Troy, Ciara Pembroke, Graham Lavin, Ben Phelan, Eoin Troy, Tara O'Keefe, Ellie O'Toole, Larry Kelly and Seán Fitzgerald.

Seniors Lose Championship Rehearsal:
The Kilcullen GAA team lost the last match of the League campaign proper on Saturday night at home to Round Towers by a score of 3-11 to 2-5. This game had no real material value with the Rags condemned to the relegation play-offs and Towers assured of their safety before kick-off. This was a dress-rehearsal for the Championship though and in that respect this was a disappointing result, even more so with Jamie Lambe getting his marching orders.
Kilcullen now face into the all too familiar league relegation play-offs. This a four team group where each team will play eachother once. Whichever club finishes bottom from Leixlip, Kilcullen, Ballymore and either Confey/Sarsfields will then be relegated to Division 2. A significant improvement in performance will now be required from the team both to retain our Division 1 staus and to be able to overturn last weekend's result in the Championship in a few weeks.

Defeat for ladies:
The ladies team were beaten by Eadestown on Wednesday night by 4-6 to 0-8. However, it was a decent performance against an unbeaten Eadestown (who were finalists last year). The ladies will be hoping to finish the season on a high against Carbury next Wednesday.

Wednesday, July 19, 2006

This week's fixtures:
The ladies team play at home to Eadestown this evening at 7.30pm. It will be a tough assignment as Eadestown have won all their 3 games so far. However Kilcullen won their only other game at home.
The Seniors play Round Towers in what will be a championship rehearsal at home on Saturday night at 7pm. However this is a very important game in its own right as we strive to avoid relegation from Division One.

Under 14 Boys Win League:
Congratulations to the Under 14 Boys Team who won Division 3 of the Bord na nOg League with a fine win over Raheens on Sunday morning. The Kilcullen youngsters ran out winners by a score of 2-14 to 1-9. Seamus Pembroke was awarded the trophy for Man of the Match. Great credit is due to team manager Dan Bell, selectors John O'Brien, Richie Kelly, Kevin O'Brien and all involved in the preparation of this talented group of players.

Seniors Lose-out Again:
The Senior team have unluckily lost out to Clane on Saturday night by a score of 2-9 to 1-11. The match was level at half-time but Clane struck early getting a goal in the first minute of the second half. Encouragingly though, Kilcullen never gave the game up and a decent late charge including an excellent goal from Mick Williams just wasn't enough for the rags in the end. Bar a mathematical miracle, the club must once again go into the end of season play-offs to decide who gets relegated to Division 2.

Upcoming Fixtures:
Compared to last week, it is a relatively quiet week of fixtures for the club. The Ladies team play away to Naas in the Junior C Championship this evening (Wed). However, it will be a tough assignment for them to get their first away win.
The Under10's are at home to Rathangan at 7pm tomorrow evening (Thurs).
And finally, on Saturday Evening at 7pm the Seniors are away to Clane in a must win game if they are to avoid being in the Relegation play-offs. Presumably this fixture is on the back pitch in Clane as there are Junior A championship matches fixed for Clane on Saturday Evening.

Juniors in Convincing Win:
The Junior team had a convincing win at home to Sallins last night. The final score was around 3-16 to 0-6 with Colin Fox getting the lion's share of these scores scoring 2-5.

Sunday, July 09, 2006

Seniors in Relegation Dogfight:
The Senior team have lost to Rathangan by a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-5 yesterday evening in bad conditions. The team will not be happy with this performance even if two of the opposition's twelve points looked dubious to say the least. Kilcullen now must get something from two tough matches against Clane and Round Towers to avoid playing in the end of league relegation play-offs.

Evening of mixed fortunes:
Congratulations to Kilcullen Ladies on securing an excellent 3-11 to 2-3 win over Ballymore last night, to give the club its first championship win.
However, the minors suffered their second defeat in a row to Carbury with Senior player Darren Barker getting his marching orders.

Busy week of fixtures:
Aswell as this evening's game aginst Carbury, the Minors also have a championship game next Wednesday (July 12th) against Castledermot. No venue has been confirmed yet.
The ladies team will be hoping to put last weeks defeat to Clane in their first ever Championship match behind them. They play at home this evening (Wednesday) to local rivals Ballymore Eustace at 7.30pm. Ballymore also suffered a heavy defeat in their first game so this match will provide Kilcullen with a good chance of their first Championship win.
The Seniors will be hoping to climb out of the relegation places when they play away to Rathangan at 7pm on Saturday evening. Also, the Juniors will be hoping to keep their slim promotion chances alive at home to Sallins at 7.30pm on Monday.
In underage news, the Under 10's play at home to Nurney tomorrow evening (Thursday) at 7pm, and the Under 12's are away to Rathangan next Tuesday at 7pm.

Tuesday, July 04, 2006

Home Defeat for Juniors:
The Juniors lost at home to Johnstownbridge by 2-9 to 0-9. Two scrappy goals were the difference in this game, and it is now virtually impossible to make the league semi-finals. There were some encouraging signs however especially the 4 fine points from play scored by John Whyte in one of his first games back from long term injury.
Fixtures:
The Under 12's play at home to Nurney this evening (Tuesday) at 7pm in the league.
Also, the minors will be looking to put last week's defeat behind them when they play Carbury in their second game of the Minor B Championship. The game is fixed for Ballyteague at 7.30pm tomorrow evening (Wednesday).

Kilcullen VHI Cúl Camp:
Bookings are now being taken for the Kilcullen VHI Cúl Camp for seven to thirteen year olds which is scheduled to take place at the GAA Club Grounds from 17 to 21 July. Please contact Derek Phelan or Martin Whyte.
