Seniors Defeat:The Seniors lost their last game of the year yesterday against Confey by 4-8 to 1-6. The result was irrelevant to Kilcullen as they were already safe. However, it was important to Confey and they ensured their survival in Division 1. Ballymore beat Leixlip in the other game, so it's Leixlip that are relegated to Division 2 for next season.Bon Voyage:Best of luck to Shane Lambe and Amanda Cross who are heading off on their travels for a year next Thursday. As we all know, Sheas has been a vital player on the first team for Kilcullen throughout the years (since he was about 12 I think!) at Junior, Intermediate and Senior level and will be sorely missed next year. Although there are a number of backs around the county that will be glad to see him gone. Amanda was a member of the ladies team this year that acquited themselves so well this year in their debut season. There is a going away session for Shane and Amanda in Bardons tomorrow night.
Race Night This Weekend:A good night's entertainment is in prospect on Saturday night (28th), when the club holds a race night in Bardons. Details on sponsorship are available from any committee member.Seniors Last Game:The Seniors have their last game of the year this Saturday, against Confey. It is their final game of the round robin series to see who gets relegated to Division 2. However, having won their opening 2 games, Kilcullen are already safe. None of the other teams are safe yet however, so the game is very important to the other clubs involved. The game takes place at 2pm on Saturday in Clane.Under 15 fixture:The Under 15 Boys have a home fixture in Division 3 against Rathangan at 11am on Sunday.Under 15 Girls Qualify For Semi-Finals:The Under 15 Girls lost by one point to Moorefield last Saturday to surrender their 100% record but have still done enough to qualify. They will now play either Clane or Castledermot in the semi-final. The main scorers on the day were Aoife Molyneaux (2-1), Kayleigh Cogan (0-3) and Roseanne Fox (0-3). Others to play well were Susie Gorman, Zaneb Alfabi, Sinéad Maher and Laura Comerford. Best wishes to Lucy Kernaghan who had been a key player for the girls this year, for a speedy recovery from injury.Condolences:The club would like pass on it's condolences to player David Phelan on the death of his Grandmother Mary Guidera. Mass and Burial take place this morning in Kilcullen at 11am.

Sponsorship of a race costs fifty euro and horses cost ten euro.Dinner Dance Reminder:Anyone interested in attending the Annual Dinner Dance on Friday 10 November in the Keadeen, should note that a limited number of tickets are still available from any committee member. Under 15 Fixtures:The Under 15 Girls play Moorefield on Saturday 21st at Moorefield. Throw in at 4 p.m. Both teams have a one hundred per cent record in the league so this game will decide who tops the table. The Under 15 Boys have a game aginst local rivals Suncroft in League Division 3. This game is at 11am on Sunday morning.Under 21 Preparations:Preparations are being made for the Under 21 Championship which will start in early November. The management team of Danny Cahill, Des O'Brien and Jim Burke will be in charge of the Under 21 team. Rags On Tour:Best of luck to Sarah Burke, full-back on the ladies team which had a good run in their debut year, who is off to join the growing contingent of Rags in Australia this week. Others (that I know of) in Oz from with Kilcullen GAA connections are Sarah's team-mates from the ladies team this year, Vicky Jones and Patricia Aspell. Johnny Howard is chairman of one of the GAA clubs in Sydney. Senior star Shane Lambe and Amanda Cross (another of this years ladies team) are due to head out in the next few weeks, while senior player and ladies team coach Kevin O'Brien is also heading down under in December. They'll be able to start their own team soon.
Division 1 Status Retained:The Seniors beat Leixlip by 0-9 to 0-8 to ensure the club will be playing Division 1 football next year. The Rags were behind for the entire match with Leixlip guilty of mising a number of good scoring opportunities allowing Kilcullen to keep in touch. Then in the last minute John Divily gave away a free to allow Cormac Aspell to equalise and from the resulting kick-out an incredible sideline point from Mick Williams won the match for Kilcullen. Ladies Lose Out:However it was a mixed weekend results-wise for the club as the Ladies team lost out to Eadestown on Sunday going down by roughly a five point margin. However this is no shame in this defeat for what is a very young team in their first year in competition. Congratulations to all involved and hopefully the team can go one better next year.
Time & Venue Confirmed For Seniors:The Seniors relegation play-off against Leixlip has been fixed for Clane this Saturday at 4.30pm. A victory will guarantee Division One football next season. The game will be preceded by the Senior Hurling Championship semi-final between Ardclough and defending champions Celbridge. Ladies League Semi-Final:In their first season, the Kilcullen Ladies team have qualified for the semi-finals of Senior League Division 3. Well Done to all involved, as this a remarkable achievement. However Castledermot came out on top in the Under 13's game.Other Fixtures This Week:U15 Girls - Kilcullen v Clane - Sat 14th @ 4pm U15 Boys - Kilcullen v Oliver Plunketts - Sun 15th @ 11amTraining Details:For those who may be interested in joining in training (either playing or helping train) here are some times: Combined U15 and Junior Ladies Football- Mondays @ 6.30pm U13 Girls Football - Tuesdays @ 5pm and Fridays @ 3.30pm Age 7-12 Boys & Girls Indoor Hurling - Mondays @ 7pmAnd Finally:Last but not least, best of luck to my brother Conor Gleeson who is heading off on his travels on Monday for a year. I have only recently taken over the website from him and he has put a lot of work into it, which I know has been appreciated by Rags both far and near. However, now I will have to a good job on it, so that he will know what is going on with the club.
Seniors Match Postponed:The match scheduled for last Saturday against Leixlip was postponed. I was away for the weekend and only found out last night, so sorry if any inconvenience was caused to anyone. The match is set to be rearranged for next weekend. Time and venue to be confirmed.
Seniors Back In Action:The Seniors are back in action this weekend for the first time since their Championship exit. They play Leixlip in their second game of the round-robin series to determine who gets relegated from Senior League Division One. Having beaten Ballymore in the first game, a win would guarantee safety for The Rags. The game takes place this Saturday at 4pm in Naas.Other Fixtures This Weekend:Sat 7th Oct @ 4pm - U13 South League - Kilcullen v Ballykelly Sun 8th Oct @ 11am - U15 Div 3 - Na Fíanna v KilcullenUnder 15 Girls Continue Fine Run:The young Lady Rags (Ragettes?) kept their successful season going with another excellent victory last week.
