Minors Win Final:
Congratulations to Kilcullen Minors who overcame Caragh after extra time to secure the Division 4 title. Hopes are high that they can follow up on this with a good championship.

Seniors Suffer Heavy Defeat:
Kilcullen Seniors were well beaten away to Celbridge yesterday evening, by 4-16 to 1-8. It was unfortunate that the match had to go ahead after a stag weekend, but hopefully the lads can put it behind them and put in a better performance against local rivals Ballymore next week.

The Passing Of Jim Aspell:
Kilcullen GAA would like to pass on its sympathies to the family and friends of Jim Aspell. Jim's family have a huge history with Kilcullen GAA down through the years, which is still alive today with his Grandsons Ronan, Cormac and Fergus all playing Senior for the club. Please see funeral details on Brian Byrne's website by clicking: here.
Comments:
It's a pity in what is a very busy week ahead match wise for the club, that I have to have this as the main story, but I have no choice. This is a Kilcullen GAA club website. The subscription is paid by Kilcullen GAA club. It is run by me, a member of Kilcullen GAA club. Therefore, I cannot allow any personal attacks on players or anyone else involved in the club on the comments section. Of course, we can have a certain amount of discussion and opinions, but not anonymously. This has gotten out of hand lately and won't be allowed in future. From now on any anonymous or personal critical comment will be deleted immediately.
All other feedback about the website is appreciated, and if anyone would like to help with news or match reports, it would be greatly appreciated, as I only get to the adult matches myself. My email address is aidangleeson@gmail.com

Confey Snatch Late Winnner:
The Kilcullen Seniors lost to Confey in their opening league match Yesterday. They were very dissapointed, having dominated the second half, actually playing better against the wind. But when the game seemed to be all but theirs, Confey grabbed a late scrappy goal to steal the win. Best for Kilcullen were Brian Fox who had a stormer at corner back, and Mick Williams who kicked a couple of great long range points against the wind. The final score was 2-3 to 0-7.
Kilcullen line-up: B.Hickey; B.Fox, R.Aspell, M.Dooley; J.Lambe(0-1), F.Aspell, G.Shanahan(capt); W.Kinsella, M.Kelly; P.Maher, M.Williams(0-3), B.Bell; P.Jones(0-2), C.Aspell(0-1), J.Whyte.
Sub used: J.Burke.

Welcome Home:
The club is delighted to welcome home Shane Lambe from his travels. We all look forward to seeing back in action for The Rags very soon, provided he makes it back from Cheltenham.

Minor News:
Well done to the Minors who had a narrow win over St.Brendans on Sunday with a scoreline of 0-12 to 1-8. Next up for the young Rags is a home fixture against Raheens at 11.30 am this Sunday.

Ballymore Challenge:
Kilcullen cancelled the challenge match that had been organised with Ballyteague at the weekend, and instead accepted an invitation to play in the Ballymore Tournament. The Rags lost by 1-7 to 0-8 to Hollywood from Wicklow. In what was a very physical encounter for a challenge game, Kilcullen never really got going. However, despite this Kilcullen should really have won the game, but were undone by some wayward shooting and a couple of questionable refereeing decisions (mainly not enforcing the advantage rule). It was another tough run out and will stand us in good stead for the league ahead, which now apparently begins against Confey and not Athy.
Kilcullen Line-Up:
Paddy Maher; R.Aspell, I.Kinsella, M.Dooley; T.Shanahan, B.Fox, G.Shanahan; W.Kinsella (0-1), M.Kelly; C.Fox, B.Bell, M.Williams capt. (0-1); P.Jones (0-1), C.Aspell (0-4), J.Whyte.
Subs Used:
J.Burke, B.Hickey, Paul Maher (0-1), J.Lambe, K.Fox, F.Aspell, A.Conlan.

Floodlit Friendly:
Kilcullen have a challenge game away to St.Josephs in Laois tomorrow evening at 6pm. St.Josephs are a strong club side in Laois and will provide a good test. They have a number of county players including Tom Kelly, and apparently they will all be playing, as Laois have no game this weekend. The match will also provide the lads with experience of playing under lights, as their first league game is against Athy under lights.
