Kilcullen never got out of the blocks, but despite this only trailed by 3 points at half time. However the Kildare Town men completely dominated the second half to win by 2-13 to 0-6. Kilcullen's best player was Shane Lambe who tried his best at both full forward and half forward, while Cormac Aspell was accurate with his point taking. The Rags now face Confey in a relegation play-off, with the losers of this game to meet the losers of Maynooth and Naas, to decide who will be Intermediate next season.

Juniors Exit Championship:
The Junior team exited the Senior B Championship to Round Towers in a disappointing contest this evening. Despite being without many of their regular players and giving a very spirited display, the concession of two first goals ultimately proved to be too much and the rags invariably found themselves chasing the game for much of the match. The game ran away from Kilcullen in the second-half finishing in a final score of 2-12 to 0-3. Best for Kilcullen were Paul McGirn, Wayne Hegarty and Barry Comerford who were bailing water all night and Algie Barker who took what little chances came his way.

Kilcullen Line-Up: P.McGirn; K.Fagan, W.Hegarty, A.Clarke; H.Hannigan, O.Nolan, B.Comerford(0-1); B.Corcoran, B.O'Brien; C.Clarke, R.Galway, Ciarán Barker; W.Condron, A.Barker(0-2), Colin Barker.
Subs Used: A.Conlon, G.Kelly, O.Moore
Championship Heartbreak for Seniors:
Kilcullen lost by the narrowest of margins to Clane on Saturday night, losing by 1-12 to 1-11. The Rags were superb in the first half, with 5 out of the 6 starting forwards scoring. With the forwards starring and a fantastic individual goal from Darren Barker, Kilcullen went in 1-8 to 1-4 up at the break. However, Clane came back srongly in the second half and went on to win. It was a tempestious affair, with a very physical Clane side having two men sent off before the end. Best For Kilcullen were Darren Barker who oozed confidence in the half back line and scored a sensational goal, Fergus Aspell who came out on top of county player David Lyons in midfield, and also Mick Williams and John Whyte who both gave everything in the forwards.

Kilcullen Line-Up: Paddy Maher; M.Dooley, R.Aspell, T.Shanahan; Paul Maher, G.Shanahan(capt), D.Barker(1-0); F.Aspell, W.Kinsella; M.Williams(0-3), B.Bell(0-2), J.Whyte(0-1); P.Jones(0-3), S.Lambe, C.Aspell(0-2).
Sub Used: I.Barker.

Crucial Championship Weekend:
Kilcullen Seniors play against Clane this Saturday night in their second game of the Championship Group Stage. A win is crucial after the dissapointing defeat to Leixlip in the first game. Let's hope a big contingent of people from Kilcullen are in at the game to cheer the Rags on. The game takes place at 7pm in St.Conleth's County Grounds In Newbridge, and it will be preceded by the game between Ellistown and Sarsfields at 5.30.

Junior Championship:
Also in action this week are the Juniors who play Round Towers on Monday night in the Senior B Championship. When they have had a full selection of players this year the Juniors have turned in some good performances and despite losing a number of players to the Seniors, they will be hoping to put in a good showing. This game takes place in Sarsfields on Monday at 7.30pm.

Ladies News:
The Ragettes had a narrow 3-5 to 0-13 win Over Prosperous last week in the Group 3 Summer Cup.
