Milltown Beat Rags:
Kilcullen lost to Milltown today by 2-12 to 1-9. Milltown dominated the first half with the aid of a strong breeze, and some fine football with former county panellist Eoghan O'Toole to the fore. They had a 1-8 to 0-3 lead at half-time. It was a much more even second period, but Kilcullen could not claw back the damage that had been done in the first half. Thomas Davis, Shane Lambe and John Whyte were best for the Rags as they tried to get back into the game, while Colm Fox scored a very well taken goal.

Kilcullen Line-Up: P.Maher; I.Kinsella, J.Burke, C.McMahon; I.Barker, R.Aspell(capt), D.Barker; T.Davis, W.Kinsella; P.Jones, S.Lambe(0-1), C.Fox(1-3,3f); J.Whyte(0-2), C.Aspell(0-3,2f), O.Nolan.
Subs Used: A.Clarke, G.Kelly, J.Browne.

Minor Game Postponed:
Kilcullen's Minor fixture against Castledermot has been postponed, as have all Minor League games fixed for this weekend. The County Board have explained their reasoning behind this:
"All games in the Minor Football Leagues Division 1,2,3 and 4 fixed for next Sunday the 1st March are deferred.
Due to the new regulations from Croke Park on collective training and challenge matches both minor footballers and hurlers are involved in the first challenge matches on Sunday next. As the time for collective training is very limited with the first round of the minor football championship in mid April we feel that it is vital that the players and management are given every opportunity to prepare in a professional manner for the championship.
We regret any inconvenience that this change may cause to clubs."

In the opening half, the young rags were slow to start against a strong Edwards side and chased the game for much of the half. After the restart, the team shone great character in finding the form they displayed the previous week and kept Johnno's arm exercised raising the white flag for much of the last 15 minutes. Final score Kilcullen 2-13 / St. Edwards 3-4. Well done to all the lads and management team also.

Rags Start With Win:
Kilcullen started the season with a 1-9 to 0-8 win over Eadestown in the Keogh Cup. The Rags had more of the play in a scrappy first half, but didn't take their chances which meant Eadestown held a 0-5 to 0-4 half-time lead. The first half was also overshadowed by a serious injury to Kilcullen half-back Brian Fox. After the break, both teams traded a few points, before the game turned with a Kilcullen goal. A fine move finished with John Whyte being fouled in the area, after a great ball from Cormac Aspell. The Eadestown keeper saved the subsequent penalty from Paul Jones, but Jones put the rebound in the net. The Rags tagged on another couple of scores to ensure a deserved win. Best on the day for Kilcullen were Ian Kinsella, Cormac Aspell and John Whyte.

Kilcullen Line-Up: S.Barker(capt); I.Kinsella, J.Burke, C.McMahon; B.Fox, R.Aspell, D.Barker; W.Kinsella(0-1), T.Davis; C.Aspell, S.Lambe, C.Fox(0-4,3f); P.Jones(1-1,1f), F.Aspell(0-1), J.Whyte(0-2).

The Season Begins:
The Intermediate team face their first match of the season when they host Eadestown in the Keogh Cup first-round at 2pm on Saturday. The Rags met Eadestown in the first round of last year's championship and came out with three point win in what was a good contest so this should prove a good chance to lay down a marker for any ambitions either side have for 2009.

Minor Fixtures Re-Arranged:
